Motivating Reluctant Readers and Writers with Technology
Participants in this workshop will learn techniques for increasing vocabularies, improving
reading fluency and writing for a purpose using PhotoStory3, Inspiration and PowerPoint.
Examples of reading and writing activities used with special education students will be
included. These techniques can be used both in small group and whole group instruction.
There will be time for developing actual lessons during the second half of the class.
Participants will practice oral reading fluency by illustrating poems in PhotoStory 3 and
deliver a vocabulary expanding “news report” using Inspiration and PowerPoint.
